Use of Isotretinoin in the Ichthyoses

  • Chapter
Retinoid Therapy

Abstract

The ichthyoses, in a way, link the past and present in retinoid therapy. Some of the first observations of the effects of deficiency or excess of vitamin A led first to the conclusion that ichthyosis and vitamin A levels were interconnected, and second to the attempts to modify their clinical manifestations with, successively, vitamin A, tretinoin, and 13-cis-retinoic acid therapy.
