Abstract
As we saw in the last chapter, the range of equipment used in CAD is very wide and there are many different ways in which systems might be classified on the basis of their hardware components. But, from the user’s point of view, the type of display technology chosen, the method of input adopted, even the way in which computer resources are deployed, are secondary considerations. The most important and fundamental characteristic of a system is the nature of the geometrical models which it is able to construct, which is, of course, primarily a function of the software rather than the hardware.
