Distribution of Coal in Relation to Energy Networks

  • Chapter
Coal Utilisation

Abstract

In this chapter, consideration is given to the way in which coal development may be affected by geographical factors. This subject includes the original source of the coal, its transport and conversion, and the transport of secondary or tertiary products. The general background is first discussed from several points of view. Some relevant economic factors are then considered; the factual basis is not, unfortunately, very satisfactory. Some reflections and conclusions, with policy implications, are then presented.
