Abstract
The Union Flag resembles, at a distance, the Flag of the Kuomintang Chinese Nationalist Government. This resemblance caused amusement and embarrassment at one time when Kuomintang troops and stragglers escaping out of Burma into Thailand made their way to Bangkok and reported to the Burmese Embassy, mistaking it, from the look of the flag, for their own.
