Abstract
When we know the distribution and abundance of L. serricorne and E. elutella throughout the various steps of the tobacco process (Fig.1.1) we may take appropriate preventive and control actions (Table 1.1). Accurate monitoring data drive our control actions. The traps used are not a means of control themselves as was once hoped173,287,297 or indeed as sometimes suggested,66,222,252 although, control via mating disruption by pheromones is feasible with other insects.184
