Abstract

This chapter is devoted to concluding remarks. First we give a summary of the thesis. In the present thesis, through the development of constrained density-functional perturbation theory (novel ab initio downfolding scheme), we have achieved non-empirical calculations for the superconductivity in the alkali-doped fullerides, which succeeds in reproducing the experimental phase diagram at a quantitative level. We have shown that the superconducting mechanism is indeed unconventional, in which unusual cooperation between electron correlations and phonons plays an essential role (Chap. 4). This fascinating cooperation is triggered by the unusual form of the intramolecular interactions, where a strong Hubbard repulsion and a weakly negative exchange interaction coexist (Chap. 3). We also discuss possible future issues.
