Abstract
Gomes’ comparative summary of the strategies transient migrants make while in Australia and Singapore provides insightful patterns into the everyday behaviours of these transnationally mobile actors. She points out that these strategies include the social and cultural spaces transient migrants occupy together with the significance placed on the richness of their identities. Gomes however tells us that while the transient migrant is an absorbing area of study, we should not discount the effects transient migration has on local ethnic communities.
