Introduction

Abstract

To introduce the purpose and scope of the book I begin with a personal story: a personal story about my somewhat unusual career path. This chapter provides the background behind one approach toward developing a career as an entrepreneurship scholar. In particular, I emphasize the importance of intrinsic motivation as the driving force behind decisions and actions that impact job tasks. Although I offer one approach of many possible paths to a successful entrepreneurship career, I hope the insights in this introduction and the book help each entrepreneurship scholar create his/her own path to success.
