Abstract
The indigenous peoples of Aotearoa New Zealand, the Maori, are known as the tangatawhenua or the people of the land. In their repertoire of myths, legends, and folklore are numerous stories about nature and the need to protect and nourish our planet as the various ecosystems are interrelated and interdependent. This story is drawn from Maori knowledge.
