Abstract

Prior to 1992, under the Communist règime, there was a revised Penal Code in Oct 1977 followed by a Labour Code and a Code of Penal Procedure in 1980, a Civil Code with a Code of Civil Procedure in 1982 and a Family Code in 1982. Justice was administered by the People’s Courts and minor crimes were tried by tribunals. Judges of the Supreme Court were elected by the People’s Assembly for four-year terms.
