Abstract
We describe two case studies in this chapter on restoring mined lands. We first provide restoration practitioners (RPs) an example on how our fivestep adaptive restoration procedure is being put into practice on landscapes disturbed by open-cut, bauxite (aluminum) mining operations. We present major findings from restoration projects we participated in on a mine site located on the Gove Peninsula in northern Australia; detailed results are provided in a report by Spain et al. (2009) and in a thesis byWedd (2002).
