Definition

Distributed practice is a technique commonly used with students who are learning material or studying for a test. It involves the student creating a schedule of study sessions that are short in duration. Distributed practice can be contrasted to massed practice or cramming, where the student spends fewer studying sessions but for longer periods of time. This technique has proven to be beneficial for maintaining newly learned skills. Distributed practice aids students in prioritizing learning material.
