The Incredible Years ® – Parent Program
Introduction
The Incredible Years® (IY) Parent Program is part of an evidence-based set of interlocking programs that aims to support children’s social, emotional, and academic competence and to prevent and treat behavior problems of children from birth to 12 years old. The IY Series includes programs for parents, teachers, and children. The IY BASIC (core) Parent Program was the first curriculum developed in the series and has been tailored to meet the needs of children at different developmental levels. The parent programs apply a collaborative, group-based model that uses discussion, video vignettes, and practices to facilitate learning the principles of parent management training (PMT), which is among the most effective treatments for reducing disruptive child behaviors.
