Laptev Oil- and Gas-Bearing Basin (OGB)

Laptev Oil- and Gas-Bearing Basin (OGB) – occupies almost the entire shelf of the Laptev Sea. Geophysical studies confirm the existence of sedimentary deposits, defined as OGB. It was formed on the large Laptev Plate, built by rocks of the Mesozoic–Cenozoic age. Signs of oil and gas in them were identified in the wells drilled on the coast of the bays of Khatanga and Olenyok. In the rock outcrops on the coast, there are numerous oil shows, including the largest deposit of asphalts (the Olenyok River). The highly promising target for the search of oil and gas in the Laptev OGB is the extensive Trofimovskiy uplift, located on the northern coast of the Lena River delta and occupying part of the delta and the seawaters.
