Introduction

Ashton C. Southard is a special lecturer at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She is a social-personality psychologist who conducts research concerning dark personality features and self-esteem.

Early Life and Educational Background

Southard was born on August 8, 1986, in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, and grew up in the rural area of Wilkes County in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from Appalachian State University in 2008, her M.A. in Experimental Psychology from Western Carolina University in 2010, and her Ph.D. in Social-Personality Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2014 under the supervision of Dr. Virgil Zeigler-Hill.
