Definition

Adenosquamous carcinoma (AC) is a deeply infiltrative variant of squamous cell carcinoma where foci of squamous and glandular differentiation coexist.

Clinical Features

  • Incidence

    AC is very rare (only 11 cases have been reported).

  • Age

    Patient age is about 55–60 years.

  • Sex

    Male.

  • Site

    In the majority of the reported cases, AC involves the glans penis commonly extending to involve the urethral meatus, coronal sulcus, and foreskin.

  • Treatment

    Penectomy.

  • Outcome

    They recur locally in 0–25% of the patients. Early and extensive regional lymphnodal diffusion is reported in 43–50% of the cases (Layfield and Liu 2000), but mortality is low, ranging from 0% to 14% (Guimarães et al. 2009).

Microscopy
