Definition
Propionaldehyde is an organic compound with the formula CH3CH2CHO. It is a colorless liquid at room temperature and pressure. Propionaldehyde has been discovered in the interstellar medium. Propionaldehyde is could be a Strecker synthesis precursor to α-amino-n-butyric acid, which has been detected in several carbonaceous chondrites.
