Abstract

There are several concepts that are integral to an understanding of landscape genetics. These include concepts within the field of population genetics, including genetic drift, heterozygosity and neutral loci, which are described in this chapter. Additionally, I discuss issues related to statistical models used in landscape genetics. Overall, the definitions provided in this chapter should better allow a reader to understand the Landscape Genetics: Wetland chapter in this volume.
