Internationalization of higher education based on catholic identity.

Catholic universities are an important segment of the higher education sector in many countries around the world. From their association with the Catholic Church and the tradition of the medieval university, one would assume that they would be more internationally oriented and active than other institutions of higher education. Still, little is known about the relationship between religious identity and internationalization. Further research is required to better understand the relationship between catholic identity and internationalization, as well as other faith-based institutions of higher education and their internationalization. What is the rationale for internationalization in Catholic universities, and what makes it different than for other universities, if so?
