Series of pictures or events occurring in the minds of persons during sleep in such a way that the person has the experience of perceiving them or participating in them.
Buddhists on Dreams
In Buddhist tradition, a systematic explanation of the phenomenon of dream is found. According to the Buddhists, dream consciousness is supraliminal normal kāma consciousness which has an object or content of a mysterious kind. The object may or may not be previously experienced; it may be a distant object or a near one. The object of dream is colorful and can have different kinds of shapes. Sometimes it is pleasurable and sometimes painful. It may be of something good or bad. So, depending on the content of dream consciousness, it is tough to define it. However, in the Pāli Buddhist texts, for example, in the Milindapañhā, dream has been defined as an image or suggestion coming into the field of consciousness.
