This is a distinctive natural landscape formed due to the geothermal energy in the Earth’s crust with hot groundwater and gases that flow to the surface. The unique physical properties and chemical compositions of hot springs have significant tourism and medicinal value. The fumaroles and hot springs in Yellowstone National Park, USA, have become a renowned tourism landscape around the world. In China, the fumaroles in Tengchong in Yunnan Province, the Yangbajing Hot Spring in Tibet, Xiaotangshan in Beijing and Huaqingchi in Lingtong are important tourism attractions for recreation, health rehabilitation, sight-seeing and leisure.
