Lingbi Stone

Lingbi stone is a carbonate rock mined in ‘Lingbi’ (an ancient county) in Anhui Province. Some contain algae fossils, and because they were found along the Sishui River, they were given the name ‘Sibi Fuqing (Floating Chimes of Sishui Shore)’. High-quality Lingbi stone generates a chime sound when struck, and in the past, it was used as a musical instrument called ‘Qing’, which, along with ‘You (the old name for bell)’, was a key instrument for the court. Lingbi stone looks slim, wrinkled, leaky and permeable and has an elegant shape, pleasing colour, multiple patterns and good sound. It is considered a high-quality ornamental stone. Large specimens are considered to contain numerous features of the world, enabling it to become an ideal ornamental specimen for landscape gardens.
