Mingzhong Tian (1951–) graduated from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in 1980. He is currently a professor at the China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and a doctoral tutor and a geopark expert at the Ministry of Land and Resources. Over the years, he has devoted himself to studying Quaternary geology, geomorphology, geoparks and tourism earth science. He has published more than 70 academic papers and 15 monographs and textbooks. He won the second prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize Teaching Award of the Ministry of Education and many other awards. He was awarded the title of ‘Advanced Ethical Teacher’ and ‘Most Popular Teacher’. He also enjoys special government allowances from the State Council. He has contributed to the successful applications of seven global geoparks, 25 national geoparks, national mining parks, and provincial geoparks.
