Rare animals and plants refer to endangered and endemic species. The former refers to species of wild animals and plants that are endangered due to the species’ own actions or because they have been affected by human activities or natural disasters. From the perspective of species management, the term ‘endangered’ refers to the species listed in the Appendix to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The latter refers to animals and plants that are found only in limited areas and are not naturally found in other areas. Rare animals and plants, such as the giant pandas, are important tourist resources and are attractive to tourists. However, special care and attention must be taken with tourism activities that may have negative impacts on the well-being of rare animals and plants. Therefore, these rare animals and plants should be closely monitored.
