Subvolcanic rocks are a type of ultra-hypabyssal rock that has the same magma source as volcanic rocks. Subvolcanic rocks look similar to rocks that form from volcanic eruptions. The characteristics of subvolcanic rocks include: (1) they form at the same time as or later than volcanic rocks; (2) subvolcanic rocks and volcanic rocks form in the same areas; (3) subvolcanic rocks and volcanic rocks have similar compositions; (4) subvolcanic rocks have the characteristics of both lava and hypabyssal rocks; and (5) subvolcanic rocks often occur as small dykes and veins. The flat riverbed of the Baishuiyang National Geopark in Fujian Province is composed of typical subvolcanic rocks.
