Abstract
Graph theory is a part of that field of mathematics referred to as combinatorics. Although the basic concepts have a simple intuitive interpretation and correspond to many features of social and economic organization this tool has been very little exploited in economics. The reasons for this are the same as those which explain economists’ lack of interest in combinatorics in general (see COMBINATORICS).
