Electronically operated controls are increasingly found in wood working machines. In a series of three papers, the field of applied electronics will therefore be described and, where necessary be discussed in greater detail. The first part, published here, points out the way which led from the microprocessor to CNC-controlled systems. The most important terms of this system are depieted. The construction of a microcomputer and the operational pattern of a microptocessor as well as dual and sedecimal numeric systems are focussed. The consecutively published parts will report on the development of numerical-control in machine-tools and on CNC-controlled systems for wood working machinery: the latter will be exemplified by an automatically operating router.
