Summary
The optical-absorption spectra of bulk silver measured by Liljenvall and Mathewson as a function of temperature have been fitted by means of a model calculation recently developed by one of the present authors. Optical gaps and interband optical matrix elements have been determined for several different temperatures.

Only the probability of occupation of the lower band is to be considered since the final states which are about 4 eV above the Fermi surface are certainly empty.

We estimate the accuracy of the reported optical gaps to be ±0.01 eV, the error on the «strength» is estimated to be ±3%.
