Linear polarization of elastic scattering of 662 keV γ-rays

Summary

Measurements on the linear polarization of 662 keV γ-rays elastically scattered from lead are reported. Special care has been taken to isolate elastic scattering from inelastic scattering. The experimental results are found to agree well with the refined calculations of Brown and Mayers and contradict the earlier form factor calculations.

Si riportano le misure della polarizzazione lineare di raggi γ di 662 keV diffusi elasticamente dal piombo. Si è avuta una speciale cura di separare la diffusione elastica da quella inelastica.
