Summary

In Switzerland developing of forest areas is part of regional planning Access to all parts of forest is opened up by truck roads and secondary lines (tracks, cable cranes). To obtain optimum results transport systems should be planned considering several aspects, viz. silviculture, access, transport, recreation social welfare, economics.

Applying soil mechanics, soil stabilization and technology of road materials for pavement design permits constructing good roads with minimum cost of, construction and maintenance.
