The effect of visible light on mutagenic activity of 1-methyl-1-nitrosourea and 1-methyl-3-nitro-1-nitrosoguanidine

Abstract

Irradiation with visible light reduced the mutagenic activity of 1-methyl-1-nitrosourea (MNH) and 1-methyl-3-nitro-1-nitrosoguanidine (MNG) solutions during their application onArabidopsis thaliana seeds for 24 hours. The antimutagenic effect of light was stronger with MNG than with MNH and in solutions buffered to pH 5 than in aqueous solutions. The decrease of activity of both the mutagens corresponded with the rate and degree of their photolysis. In the paper are presented the curves for the dependence of the decomposition of both substances and the formation of nitrous acid on pH and temperature of the solutions, amount of seeds.

Abstract

Osvětlením roztoků 1-methyl-1-nitrosomočoviny (MNH) a 1-methyl-3-nitro-1-nitrosoguanidinu (MNG) viditelným světlem během 24 hod. působení na semenaArabidopsis thaliana se snížila jejich mutagenní aktivita. Rozdíl mezi působením na světle a ve tmě byl výraznější u MNG a u roztoků pufrovaných na pH 5. Snížení aktivity obou mutagenů souvisí s rychlostí a stupněm jejich fotolysy. V práci jsou uvedeny křivky rozpadu obou mutagenů a vývin kyseliny dusité na světle v závislosti na pH roztoků, jejich teplotě, na množství semen.

Abstract

В результате освещения растворов 1-метил-1-нитрозомочевины (МИН) и 1-метил-3-нитро-1-нитрозогуанидина (NMG) в течение 24 часов, во время действия растворов на семенаArabidopsis thaliana, их мутагенная активность оказалась пониженной. Разница между действием на свету и в темноте была более выразительной для MNG и у растворов забуференных на pH 5 по сравнению с растворами в дестилированной воде. Снижение активности обоих мутагенов обьясняется их скоростью и степенью фотолиза. В работе приведены кривые распада обоих мутагенов и образования азотистой кислоты на свету в зависимости от pH растворов, температууры, количества семян.
