Samenvatting

Acarbose is een complex oligosaccharide dat oraal genomen competitief en reversibel de a-glucosidasen in de wand van de dunne darm remt. Daardoor is er een vertraagde afbraak van koolhydraten in de darm en een vermindering van de postprandiale hyperglykemie en hyperinsulinemie.
