Research results are reported on the alternative hydrocracking form of processing for the organic part of bituminous sands in Azerbaidzhan deposits. The proposed method consists of catalytic processing of the á-olefins (oct-1-ene). In this way one can obtain highly viscous basic oils, which can be used to prepare semisynthetic oiling media for general purposes.
