On March 6th 2011, the journal of Fluorescence held its annual editorial board dinner, which coincided with the Biophysical Society meeting, which was also in Baltimore Maryland at the same time. The dinner is held annually to discuss journal progress, with board members, the editor-in-chief and Springer.

Of particular note this meeting was the further increase in manuscripts submitted to the journal since 2009, some nearly 400 in 2010, with approximately 300 in 2009. The acceptance rate had increased slightly over the 2009 value also, where some 60.6% of manuscripts were accepted for publication in 2010. The time-to-decision for revised manuscripts was also a notable 70.6 days, which reflected the implementation of several measures to more rapidly review manuscripts a year back.

While the ISI impact number for the journal hovers around the 2 factor, this has also coincided with a significant increase in the number of manuscripts submitted. The Journal was also ranked 30/70 for all Analytical Journals and 42/67 for Biochemical research methods journals in 2010. The number of on-line paper downloads had also increased from about 80,000 in 2009 to 100,000 in 2010.

Overall the Journal of fluorescence continues to grow at a pleasing and sustained rate, with all the journal metrics improved over there 2009 values.

At this time I would like to thank all the board members, Springer, Journal reviewers and authors for all their continued help with the journal, thank you.
