Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to present the methodology used for the stretch of coast between the ports of Castellón and Sagunto, in order to introduce and compare all the factors related to that coast for its Integral Management. The methodology has been developed so that it can be generalized to any other stretches of coast, given the modifications of the input parameters which depend on the characteristics of the particular stretch, as well as on the possible alternative action steps taken to facilitate and speed up communications between the various administrations involved, which in turn maximizes the resulting Integral Management. In this sense, the Geographic Information System (GIS) is seen as an indispensable tool to handle, combine and manage the various data, as well as to allow the planning of strategies for the best management of coastal areas with special problems, keeping in mind all the aspects of the affected littoral and its interrelationships.
