Samenvatting
Hyponatriëmie ontstaat als de wateropname van het lichaam de waterexcretie overtreft. De oorzaak voor hyponatriëmie ligt altijd in een stoornis in de renale waterexcretie, met als enige uitzondering primaire polydipsie. Het klinisch beeld van hyponatriëmie is het gevolg van de hypo-osmolariteit en een verplaatsing van water van extra- naar intracellulair.
