Abstract
“There are no guarantees in life.” The irony is that we ignore this well-known sage observation in most of our organizations. We expect everything to run like clockwork as neatly prescribed by all sorts of regulations, policies, and vision statements. Consequently, we end up not only disappointed when things don’t turn out as expected, but also puzzled how work gets done despite all the apparent problems. But as we’ve seen, it really isn’t that much of a mystery.
