Abstract

Syncope, like headaches and chest pain, has the frustrating property of being an extremely common symptom for which the significance runs the gamut from benign nuisance to ominous harbinger. When evaluating syncope the care provider therefore should not dismiss it lightly, and at the same time avoid excessive utilization of health care resources in the work up of these patients.
