Abstract
The physiological changes in diseased plants are usually reflected in visible symptoms which may be mild or severe, depending partly on the nature and aggressiveness of the pathogen and the susceptibility of the plant. McNew (1960) suggests that there are six major vital processes in plants, and correspondingly six main ways in which pathogens adversely affect plants.
