Abstract

Food and drink are a never-ending subject for anyone interested in a foreign culture, and this is especially the case when dealing with the several cultures where German is spoken. In the space of one chapter we can give only a brief idea of some of the pleasures of eating and drinking in German-speaking countries. First, a menu gives you some ideas for a meal. Then follows a recipe for gingerbread men — a traditional German children’s delicacy. Then follows a letter from Gabi to her English pen-friend, telling her about German food.
