Abstract

Fluids are substances which flow, that is, they are matter in a shape so readily distortable that it cannot be said to have a shape of its own. Unlike solids, in which a given shear stress produces a definite change of shape, in fluids the smallest shear stress if applied long enough will produce any required change of shape.
