Operating System Internals

Abstract

This chapter is intended to introduce the reader to some of the internal mechanisms of the operating system. The material covered is aimed at the more experienced user or system administrator who is beginning to question the way in which an Apollo operates. The chapter is not exhaustive, but attempts to answer some of the points most frequently raised. Note that some of the the commands discussed in this chapter may, if used incorrectly, cause damage to the system and therefore should not be used without authority.
