Abstract

This chapter defends the doctor’s right to terminate life at the explicit uttered request of seriously-suffering patients with incurable disease. The motive is to help the patient to die ‘appropriately’ and it is important to stress that the motive is based on compassion and not on complying with the autonomy of a patient.
