Abstract
Biotechnology as a scientific endeavor has progressed more rapidly than many knowledgeable individuals expected. Just how rapidly is evidenced in the two papers on applications to laboratory animals and agricultural animals. Complex animals are an extremely demanding area for research and development, demanding because of the inherent complexity of the subjects and the exacting techniques required for the insertion of foreign genomes into the ova and the rearing of a viable animal.
