Abstract

The Perspectives section of the AEB syllabus consists largely of an overview of topics considered in previous sections. It is a compulsory section, so you need to revise it well. When writing essays on perspectives, bear the following in mind:

  1. 1.

Use examples from the syllabus, drawing them from as many areas as possible. Do not simply list studies in a jumbled and disorganised fashion: make a point and illustrate it with reference to studies in topic areas, as appropriate. Suggestions as to how this can be done are made throughout the text. You will need to refer back to previous sections to find these studies: this is good for revision!

  2. 2.

It is inappropriate to go into any studies in detail; the purpose of this section is not to provide detailed information but to draw together philosophical strands which pervade the whole of psychology.

  3. 3.

There is a great deal of overlap in these sections so, although it is easier to study them as separate sections rather than all together, bear this in mind when considering the issues.
