Abstract

In parallel with the fast economic growth rate in the economy, in the 1986–95 period, Vietnam’s construction industry notched up considerable growth, averaging between 21 per cent and 30 per cent annually. The construction output value in the five years 1986–90 was VN$3356 billion (equal to US$333 million), and soared to VN$36 150 billion (equal to US$3.6 billion), showing an increase of 10.8 times in the 1991–5 period.
