Abstract

An integrated circuit (IC) is an electronic circuit formed in or on a carrier (substrate) and packaged as a single unit. The advantages of circuit integration compared with discrete component technology are

  1. (1)

    greater reliability;

  2. (2)

    improved performance;

  3. (3)

    cost reduction;

  4. (4)

    size reduction.
