Abstract
If the 1960s was the decade of radical youth, the 1970s became the decade of women. In the early years the sensation of hectic growth was such that a great mass movement of women seemed just around the corner. A new politics was created virtually from nothing, many significant victories were won and feminism staked its claim to be taken seriously as the expression of women’s interests and aspirations.
