Abstract

As it became more enmeshed in the control and supervision of the rural socialised economy, the rural party increased its level of organisational sophistication and introduced organisational changes to meet social, political and economic circumstances. This chapter discusses how the party at district (raion) level reacted organisationally to the new demands made upon it during the first Five Year Plan.
