Abstract
The treatment and rehabilitation of crack-addicted persons is difficult and frustrating, requiring tolerance and compassionate understanding. This is partly due to the widespread availability of the drug, the powerful marketing strategies used to sell it, and the strong craving experienced by the addicts.1 Treatment is usually conducted in psychiatric facilities or in ongoing drug and alcohol treatment programs.
